Music
Jason Johnson was born in New Orleans, La on October 15th, 1979, and he moved to Katy, Tx in 1981. His Father is a drummer, and it rubbed off on his son. By age 6, he was already playing on a drum set. At age 13 when his Father decided to buy himself a new drum set, he gave his old set to Jason.
His parents wanted him to play in the school band. He played at T.H. McDonald Jr. High School in Katy, and later played at Katy High School. During this time, he tried his luck in a few unsuccessful garage bands. He later went to Blinn College in Brenham, Tx where he majored in Music Education. He never finished school.
After college, he didn't play for a couple of years until there was an opening at his church. The Vineyard Church of Sugarland knocked off his rust, and it got him back involved with what he loves doing most, playing music. He later went back to his original church Faith West in 2005 because he knew he could help transition the praise & worship team from his prior experiences. He left Faith West in 2010 after they were able to accomplish the transition. He joined Katy Community Fellowship Church in 2011 to play drums. Their drummer left, and they were in transition of worship leaders. He brought stability to the team and he helped grow their ministry. He left in 2016 after accomplishing his mission. He is now taking on a new challenge playing drums at Iglesia Bautista Hosanna in Houston.
In 2007, Jason attended a Katy HS football game, and he ran into his former band director Bob Bryant. Bob asked him to play in the community band he had just started conducting for called the Lone Star Symphonic Band, after not playing symphonic music since college. Jason went on to become the percussion section leader and serve on the Board of Directors of the band. He left the band in July 2013 to focus more on the JJ Music and Magic business.
Magic
Around age 14, instead of going to the school library to research a science fair project, he checked out a book on how to do magic. Thus, it began. Needless to say, he didn't do a science fair project, and he was demoted from his only honors class he ever took.
He went on to learn a variety of good card tricks, but that was all he knew for a long time. After being famous at his company for these tricks, he was asked in 2002 by Eduardo Marquez, a co-worker, to entertain some kids at their annual company picnic. That sparked a new commitment to magic, and to learn more than just card tricks.
He learned with the success of the company picnic, he could branch out and do magic shows for these same kids at birthday parties. In 2007, he performed his first birthday party. Since then, he's been popular with the children at his church, and performed a magic show for the kids church. In 2009, Jason was asked to perform close up magic for a charitable cause as Faith West and Kingsland Baptist Churches decided to rebuild a Katy neighborhood as well as build a bus stop for the kids from the devastation of Hurricane Ike.
In 2010, Jason started performing a new stage show with his assistant, Becky the Bunny. This show has been performed at larger birthday parties, chuches, and elementary schools.
